Design team update!
Holiday Dresses Shown Above are Avaliable in Store!
As our holiday production is starting to slow down and all our fabulous dresses for Holiday 2008 hit the floor daily I thought I would grab a few free moments (and a cup of coffee) to blog about the major fashion trends for the holiday party season.  We’ve been super busy getting our small runs (as in very limited edition … five or six dresses total: grab them while they are hot!) and there are some really stunning dresses ready to make you shine at whatever event (or events, busy ladies!) you attend this party season.

Defined Waist
Nothing is more feminine and va-va-voom than a sexy curve.  Seen on the runways of Lanvin, Balenciaga, and of course Roland Mouret (he who is instrumental in Posh's tiney-tiney waist), this trend is one that never fails to flatter and get one noticed.  Whether it be an empire waist or at the natural waist line, try this trend out and watch yourself loose pounds instantly.  Elongate the leg with some high heels and you’ll be looking like a super-model super-fast.
How could all eyes not turn your direction when you enter a room glimmering and sparkling?  Nanette Lapore, Christopher Kane, and Hervé Léger have incorporated sequin and shimmer into their fall looks for maximum effect and so should you.  Sequins not only highlight every shimmy and strut you make (on the dance floor or flitting to your waiting cab), but also reflects light up and onto your face.  It’s like you have your own lighting crew following you around all evening!

What is more romantic than lace?  Famously used by Prada to full effect this season, lace is a trend not going away anytime soon (we all love lace here in the design room- so we're happy designers).  Cavalli and Givenchy are even incorporating lace in their shoes!  Sultry and elegant lace’s peek-a-boo nature teases while evoking a feeling of sophistication and fun.   When paired with vibrant jewel tones in rich satins beneath (as we have) the stage will be set for an evening to remember.
And how can you not do party dresses with out ruffles?  Even the most minimalist of designers were incorporating ruffles into their collections this season.  Marchesa, Phillip Lim, Oscar De La Renta, and Alice +Olivia all incorporated ruffling to great effect.  Don’t fear looking larger when wearing ruffles, when done right they draw the eye up and down (not sideways) and scream good times.
So pop in and see what new dress grabs your fancy!  Remember, the lovely Blushing Ladies are here to help style you head to toe and help you find that special look for this holiday season.  Feel secure that when you’re ring-a-ding-dinging in the New Year or scandalizing yourself at the staff Christmas party that you are the only lady in that Blushing dress!

For our first entry we have sent out our own girl about town Ayla to interview Jules F, designer of JFG Designs.   JFG Designs jewellery have been adding sparkle to the Boutique since we first opened and we wanted to take a closer look at Jules F and her gorgeous designs.
Ayla: Tell us a little about yourself...
Jules: I'm born and raised in Vancouver. I always wanted to have my own business and I decided to explore my artistic side of my personality and follow my passion creating beautiful jewellery.
Ayla: What inspired you to be a jewellery designer?
Jules: I wanted a career change, to explore my creative-side; I had no background in designing. I was in a mall looking for a pair of earrings for a night out (which I didn’t find), all of a sudden I had a strong vision about designing jewellery and I decided to follow my dreams finally just started to sketch out the visions.
Ayla: Who are your designs for? Where are they made?
Jules: Each piece is designed by myself and Canadian manufactured using only the finest quality of materials. I love creating beautiful jewellery for the everyday Fashionistas who want to define their own sense of style in the world of fashion.
Ayla: What inspires you?
Jules: I’m inspired by colors and shapes in our world that are transformed into one of kind creations that reflect on each individuals own personal style.
Ayla: Did you go to school to be a jewellery designer?
Jules: No, I just took a couple workshops in designing jewellery, my instructor at the time who is also a jewellery designer said I had creative- talent. From then on I just went with this path.
Ayla: When did you start the process of your business?
Jules: I started about 5 years ago, I started building it, doing what I love.
Ayla: What kind of jewels do you use for your collection?
Jules: I work with Glam it up Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, Czech glass beads, and gold filled or sterling-silver chains.
Ayla: Where do you see J.F.G Designs, in say 3 years?
Jules: I see it expanding worldwide, as well as having an online store!
Ayla: Can you give us a hint of what your next collection will be?
Jules: It will be for the winter season, so the colors will be purples, olive green and black and shapes- long necklaces, and drop earrings!
Ayla: What kind of services do you offer your customer?
Jules: I offer Custom designs exquisite jewellery for weddings or that special occasion or just an all occasion. For the glamorous brides and bridesmaids these pieces will make you sparkle on your special day.
Ayla: Do you have any advice for future jewellery designers?
Jules: Have a passion for what you do, figure out what type of jewellery you want to design and take workshops, then let your creativity flow! Once you find out what inspires you, mix that with passion and inspiration and go on from there.
Don’t be afraid of challenges and do something different and unique!
